Linda Wayner

Linda Wayner is an experienced attorney, professor, and diversity specialist.  Ms. Wayner’s litigation specialties include commercial disputes, international arbitration, and human rights advocacy on behalf of women, immigrants, and the Latinx community.

As an attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, Ms. Wayner specialized in international litigation and arbitration and litigated issues such as merger fraud, securities compliance, product counterfeiting, insurance demutualization, and slavery reparations. In the affirmative action case, Grutter v. Bollinger, Ms. Wayner represented the University of Michigan Law School’s organized students of color during the U.S. Supreme Court proceedings.

Ms. Wayner then served as Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s general counsel for international affairs for seven years in New York City.  Ms. Wayner’s portfolio included overseeing federal litigation, the United Nations Capital Master Plan, and diplomatic immunity investigations.  Ms. Wayner served as negotiating counsel for a $9 million property tax settlement with the Government of the Philippines and brokered perimeter security agreements between the New York Police Department (“NYPD”) and the United Nations.  Ms. Wayner has since advised foreign governments and international NGOs as an expert and consultant on diplomatic and sovereign immunity disputes.

Ms. Wayner has also worked as a diversity professional with a variety of non-profit, academic, and private institutions, including NYU School of Law and the New York City Bar Association.  Ms. Wayner has represented political asylum applicants from Cameroon, China, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Mexico, Nepal, Tibet, and Venezuela.   For over a decade, Ms. Wayner has taught at Pace University School of Law in the areas of international arbitration, municipal governance, and business enterprise law.

Ms. Wayner is an active Board Member of Pipeline in Practice, a non-profit devoted to supporting and preparing diverse law students for academic and professional success and a former deputy president of the Hispanic National Bar Association in New York, where she lives and practices law.
